Deepalaya has been constantly striving to fill the gaps in the lives of the underprivileged with continuous encouragement and opportunities in order to help them reach their level best.
Deepalaya has been constantly striving to fill the gaps in the lives of the underprivileged with continuous encouragement and opportunities in order to help them reach their level best. Due to these efforts, six alumni students of Deepalaya Schools, are going to the United States in the month of June, 2010 for a year to fulfill their dreams of becoming a professional. Three students are going to pursue “Health Profession including Nursingâ€Â and the rest have chosen “Business Management & Administrationâ€Â as their area of study. The initiative program is organized by the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Community College. Lady luck has indeed shone on the students coming from an economically weaker background. But it has been their diligent efforts that helped them to be part of the 54 students selected from across India.“I feel really fortunate to get this opportunity and I am looking forward to meet new people in the USâ€Â commented the ecstatic eighteen year old Sonu Singh who would be studying Business Management and Administration at the U.S. This opportunity has helped him to become more focussed about his future. He aims to improve the condition of his family with the education and training that he would be receiving. Twenty year old,Chandni has similar views about the opportunity. Moreover she is glad to be a part of Deepalaya, her alma mater that has helped her avail this chance. An all-rounder at Deepalaya School, Chandni has studied Ancillary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM)course which was sponsored by Deepalaya and she is presently working as a staff nurse at the Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension. She comments that “Deepalaya is second home to me and I feel really special to have been nominated for this one year program. I will do my best once again as that is what I have learnt from all at Deepalaya.” The students have mixed feelings of nervousness as well as excitement. Indira Kumari, another alumni student of Deepalaya selected for the course on “Health Profession including Nursingâ€Â comments that “After the course, I would like to serve my country as a nurse and I feel privileged to get this opportunity to fulfill my dreams.â€Â Deepalaya has provided them the platform, now it is how they work hard and make a better future for themselves.
