“Life is not merely being alive, but being well”

Keeping this in mind a medical camp was organised at Deepalaya School, Sanjay Colony on 30 August and 1 September, 2011.

The  Camp on the 30th August was organised for the students of Deepalaya School by the Amway Opportunities Foundation (AOF)- a registered non-profit organisation which looks after Amway India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),.

Devashish Majumdar, Area Manager Amway (Delhi and Haryana), said that , “the Company plans to organise such free medical camps for 800 students at Deepalaya in 3 phases. In the first two phases, 250 students will be covered and the remaining in the third phase. A follow up will also be done after an interval of 6 months”.

The students were screened by a team of 5 comprising an eye specialist, gynaecologist, dentist and 2 general physicians. The students were screened and dispensed with appropriate medication.

“I will follow all the instructions given by the doctors and will brush my teeth twice daily” said Chanda Baby, a student of Class VIII.

On the 1st Sep a Community Health Camp was organised for the residents of Sanjay Colony and nearby slum clusters.  The services were volunteered by Dr D.P.S.Toor and his team from the Rural Health Centre. There was a facility for eye check up also and a cancer awareness session was also organised by IRCH-AIIMS.

On the whole 390 people (108 in Eye check up, 34 for cancer awareness and 248 for general check-up) were benefited through the medical camp.

The doctors in general suggested all the patients to have healthy eating habits, keep their surroundings clean and to do some exercise regularly to keep their body fit and fine. The students of Deepalaya School, Sanjay Colony, also enacted a play-‘Prevention of breeding of Mosquitoes’ to sensitize the people to keep their surroundings neat and clean.
