It doesn’t matter how smart you are if you can’t even make itHealth camp for underprivileged out of your bed. And when it comes to children, maintaining good healthcare not only sharpens their minds, improves their learning capacity and ensures regular attendance, but also helps them in the later years of their lives. With this in mind, Deepalaya, with the collaboration of Ms. Archana Sharma, G.M. Modi Hospital and Saket City Hospital, organised a series of Health Camps for the children and their families.
The first session of the camp was held at the G.M. Modi Hospital on 23rd, 25th and 30thSeptember with a total of 82 participating children. All the children had registered for the camp beforehand and were given a physical check up by the doctor on their allocated days. Medicine was given as per the doctor’s prescription and some children were also administered blood tests.Health check up at Deepalaya Sanjay Colony School Although the children were a little scared at the prospect of a blood test, the parents came forward to express their gratefulness to Ms. Archana and the hospital authorities for their initiative and effort. With the day winding down, refreshments in the form of biscuit packets were distributed among the kids.
Post the success of the first health camp, a second camp was organised on 18th October at Deepalaya School Sanjay Colony. This time, the camp was open to all the students, their families and community members and saw a turnout of a whopping 162 people. Two doctors, Dr. Baby Rajkhowa (Gynecologist) and Dr Rahul (General Physician), from the nearby Saket City Hospital did the check ups and where necessary, referred the community members to the hospital for further treatment. Ms. Archana Sharma, one of the organisers had this to say – “Deepalaya is doing such a wonderful job and we happy that we too can contribute to this social cause.”
Deepalaya’s association with the two hospitals is just the tip of the iceberg. We plan on continuing this initiative in the months to come so that even the underprivileged can live a healthy and dignified life.
