There is an old saying that “Health is Wealth” without health one cannot enjoy life. Keeping this in mind, we decided to organize health camp for the children studying in Deepalaya Loesche learning centre in collaboration with Max Health Care Hospital on 20th September 2017.
A team of six persons including two doctors diagnosed the problems and provided appropriate medicines to children. Around 210 children and their siblings queued up for the health check-up. Our team had created necessary awareness and publicity more than a week before in the community.
The doctors also apprised the patients why it becomes necessary to conduct health camps and what kind of benefits can people have, especially when diseases like dengu, chikangunya and Typhoid are spreading in Delhi, NCR. People still are not paying heed to cleanliness and swachhta that is being promoted by the government. They also informed them what kind of preventive measures they should take. Thereafter, the doctors checked the patients one by one, prescribed medicines and advised them to maintain cleanliness.
The results laid bare the stark realities of people residing in slums. Majority of them were found to be a victim of malnutrition. People are half-fed and half-naked. They are not aware about their health and hygiene. Overall, the camp was a great success as people were able to get the benefit free of cost. However, there is a lot which needs to be done for improving their health condition.
