A Visit to I-CARE Because We Careâ€
June 23, 2012 was like any ordinary Saturday in Deepalaya’s Institutional Care (I-Care) Center at Gusbethi. But the campus soon reverberated to the excitement and the children’s restlessness as they got ready to welcome yet another group of Special people-students who were visiting India under the banner of the Students Ambassador program.Organised by World Wide Adventurest.

But the campus soon reverberated to the excitement and the children’s restlessness as they got ready to welcome yet another group of Special people-students who were visiting India under the banner of the Students Ambassador program.Organised by World Wide Adventurest.
Why India? Gloria, their tour chaperone said, “India has diverse culture and history.” Fourteen (14) teenagers from different states of America arrived with friendly smiles on their faces, not showing any signs of jet lag. The day started off with the welcome remarks and introduction on Deepalaya and its I-Care program by Ms. Sudha Parthasarathy, Executive Director of Deepalaya.
Special people-students who were visiting Deepalaya, India under the banner of the Students Ambassador programAfter the warm welcome, both groups of students divided themselves into two groups – the kitchen and the painting brigades; the former to prepare lunch for everyone and the latter to beautify the girls’ rooms with fresh coats of paint. The menu for the day was a blend of East and West. Pasta, dal, mixed vegetables, rice and chapatti. The interactions were very vibrant and interesting.
Interactions continued through various activities like playing ball, eating lunch together, cultural presentations and informal conversations in groups –all aimed at exposing themselves to new cultures, gaining friends and widening each other’s life perspectives.

The children bid the visitors goodbye. Certainly, at night, slumber can never erase the memories of the visit. It will remain in their hearts. The warm smiles and hugs will remind them that people care and that there is still hope in this world. Thank you very much to Worldwide Adventures. You, with a compassionate heart, are most welcomed in their simple world.
