Another library, another reservoir of knowledge

Libraries serve as gateway to the world of knowledge and communities need libraries to thrive. With this in mind, a new library was inaugurated at Deepalaya Gole Kuan centre for the children and people living in that community on 28th October 2017. It will connect children with books and take them to a new world of possibilities

Community Library in South Delhi

Libraries serve as gateway to the world of knowledge and communities need libraries to thrive. With this in mind, a new library was inaugurated at Deepalaya Gole Kuan centre for the children and people living in that community on 28th October 2017. It will connect children with books and take them to a new world of possibilities.

The library was formally inaugurated by Shri VP Joy, IAS. Commissioner Provident Fund in the presence of Mr. Chackochan, President, Deepalaya, Mr. AJ Philip, Secretary & C.E., Deepalaya, Board members – Mr. T M Abraham, Ms. Leena George, Dr. Annie Mathew and Ms. Rajini Thomson, Gole Kuan staff, students and community. Ms. Mridula, Mr. Michael, Ms. Rike and Ms. Swati Janu, the architects were also present on the occasion. The cultural program was started with lighting of the lamp followed by felicitation of people who have contributed their time and effort for bringing up this library. Thereafter, Mr. A J Philip, secretary & Chief Executive, Deepalaya welcomed the guests. The students of Deepalaya Gole kuan learning centre presented a welcome song. Three students spoke about their favourite book. This was followed by motivational speech by Dr. V P Joy, IAS, who attributed Kerala’s achievements in the field of education to the strong library movement in the state. He gave a book to the library. A few students, who had read more than 10 books in less than two months since the library has become operational, were rewarded with a book. This included a two-year old kid, Raghav, who, visits the library every day without fail. Thereafter, the students presented a beautiful dance.

Ms. Jaswant Kaur gave vote of thanks to the distinguished guests and people who were involved in setting up this library.
