Battle of the minds

“Our school has won for the second time in this quiz competition and Iam happy that I contributed in this winning”, said Amandeep, the proud contestant from Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension.

Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension (DSKE) and Ramditti J.R.Narang Deepalaya (RJRND) School defeated their counterparts and won the Inter-Deepalaya School Quiz competition for Middle and Junior Schools respectively.

In the Quiz Competition held on 15th and 19th October, 2011, contestants from the five schools participated and battled intellectually for the rolling trophy. The Quiz Masters were Mr A.J.Philip- President, Deepalaya (on 15th October), and Ms Anu Paul Philip (on 19th October).

The keenly contested competition which consisted of four rounds each saw students fighting hard to earn the points and had a tough competition amongst the participants till the end. The set of interesting questions put up by the quiz masters kept the contestants and the audience focused.

“Iam happy and thankful to my teachers who helped us prepare for the quiz”, said Arjun, one of the winning duo from RJRND.

Speaking to the contestants on the occasion, Mr A.J. Philip said, “Winning or losing is not important in a competition. What matters the most is participation. For me all of you are winners.” 

Impressed by their competitive streak and determination, Mr A.J.Philip gave a cash prize of Rs 500 each to the winning team and the first and second runner up teams in the Middle School quiz competition. All the students were presented with a certificate and a trophy for their participation.

“I am very elated to see the enthusiasm among the students and I hope to come next year and become the quiz master again”, said Ms Anu Paul Philip- who was very delighted to see the intelligence and zest among the contestants and the audience.

The rolling trophy will remain with the winning teams for a year till the next quiz competition. The quiz competition ended with the participating schools committing to do hardwork and perform better next year and aiming to win the quiz competition and the rolling trophy.
