Have you perceived museum as a place for educational pursuit? After all, where else can we find relics from a bygone era, belonging to history, which was never lived by us and only read in books that tell numerous stories about our ancestors? However, museums that reverberate history may also become insignificant and become a thing of the past if they are not maintained and protected for posterity.

Every year, International museum day is celebrated on 18th May. Representatives from museums all over the world celebrate the day. This year, Museum branch of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Red Fort conducted a painting and quiz competition to commemorate the day.Collage of children participatin in drawing competition on World Museum Day.
On 18th May 2016 seven students from Deepalaya Leaning centers – Adarsh Nagar, Bhalaswa and Tilak Nagar participated in the drawing competition. Around 1500 students from different schools of Delhi participated in the event. Deepalaya was the only NGO representing the social sector. Our students did well but could not bag theChildren from Deepalaya Learning Centres North Delhi with their participation certificates. prizes as the competition was of entirely different technique. They gained a different experience and are enthusiastic about learning the new technique of drawing & painting. All of them received participation certificates, which also filled them with joy. Two of our students participated in the quiz competition also.
Later on, the students were also taken for a Heritage Walk in Red Fort Complex (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It was an enriching experience for them as some of them had visited the complex for the first time.
