The bright morning of 3rd December, 2011 got brighter as the students and staff of Deepalaya’s Special Unit geared up and celebrated International Day for Persons with Disability.
On this occasion various games were organized for the students giving them opportunities to come forward and showcase their talent while enjoying. The students thoroughly enjoying all the games especially the cricket match.
Parents also gathered at the premises in large numbers to further encourage their children. The Chief Guest Col Anil Alagh of the Le Passage to India Foundation congratulated the Special Unit Team for encouraging the students and training them keeping in mind their limited abilities. He also congratulated the parents for supporting their wards and also motivated the students by participating in the cricket match. All the students received prizes.
The day ended with the prize distribution to the winners and gifts to all the students along with the refreshments. The children could not hold back their smiles. The spirit of ‘Sportsman Spirit’ prevailed
“I am very happy to come here today and support my child and others children. I enjoyed a lot today”, said Urmila-mother of Rani.
Deepalaya’s Special Unit began functioning 15 years ago as we strongly believe that children with special abilities could also lead a normal life like their counterparts if they have effective access to services like early identification, intervention, education, vocational training, employment opportunities and the availability of aids and appliances.
