Little drops of water, Little drains of sand, Make the mighty ocean And the beauteous land. And the little moments, Humble though they be, Make the mighty ages Of eternity….â€Â Every moment spent with the children is indeed special. Likewise, Deepalaya School, Gusbethi celebrated their Sports Day on 18th and 19th December,09.The misty morning of the Sports Day started with a Prayer song followed by a March Past by the four houses (Bhagat Singh, Nehru, Raman and Mother Teresa). The Guard of Honor trailed after the flag opening ceremony of the third annual sports day was inducted by the two Chief Guests for the event- Ms Shikha Pal, (Assistant Manager, Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extension) and Ms Sudha Parthasarthy, Executive Director of Deepalaya . Delighted to see the enthusiasm in the children and addressing the children, Ms Sudha said, “Take advantage of all the opportunities that come your way. You all have a lot of potential in you, recognize it and come out as shining stars.â€Â The stars of Mewat listened to her and nodded in anticipation. Gusbethi, which has been the institutional care baby of Deepalaya, indeed showed it is growing and how! The commemoration continued the next day with much more zeal. The bright winter morning of 19th December and a huge playground with children lined up with a series of competitions offered a perfect environment for sports. The children were divided into four groups namely small (grades LKG & UKG), sub-junior (grades 2 & 3), junior (grades 4 & 5) and senior (grade 5-10). There were three categories of activities for each of the groups like Lemon race, Balance race, Three-legged race, 100m and 200m dashes to name a few separately for both boys and girls. Apart from this, the groups’ activities and indoor activities added a cherry on the cake in the entire day. The second day ended up with the award distribution ceremony showcasing the champs of the event.
As Erica Jong rightly said,â€Â Everyone has a talent. What is rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark places where it leadsâ€Â. Deepalaya has unquestionably shown the courage towards recognizing the talent among the students. The Sports Day was one of the examples.
