The Delhi Child Rights Club (DCRC) was set up by Butterflies, a registered voluntary organisation, on 10th December 1998 with the objective of making Delhi a safe and child friendly state. This club enables children to come together and find ways to increase awareness about child rights and responsibilities. Deepalaya is one of the 15 members of the Delhi Child Rights Club.
Major objectives of the Club are as follows:
On the 11th of September 2013, four students from Deepalaya School Sanjay Colony who are also a part of DCRC went to the India Habitat Centre to interface with municipal councilors. The students discussed the issues that they face in their areas and shared the area development plans of their wards.
This is what Ms. Rita Panicker; Director of Butterflies had to say about the Deepalaya students –
“I would like to share with you that during the interface with councilors (Held on 11th Sep 2013 at IHC) your children did very good presentation. It was full of emotions and explanations. Children were making their Presentation before guests as if they are talking to the guests. Everybody was impressed with their presentation.”
