On November 3rd, the Delhi Dynamos Football Club an Indian Super League football franchise, invited many NGO’s working with children to witness their match against the Northeast United at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This was in a bid to make the game popular among school children. They also sponsored refreshments for the little guests.

Around 328 children representing various educational projects of Deepalaya, were taken for the game. Their teachers and caretakers in tow. For some of the children, it was their first exposure to football and a live-game in a stadium. Needless to say, they were enthralled by what they saw around them and most of them took pictures to keep the memory alive. The game began with the National Anthem being sung, creating a spiritedA super excited fan of Delhi Dynamoes in Deepalaya.environment. The children cheered aloud when the players came onto the field.
In the middle of the first half, the very first goal was scored by Delhi Dynamos, the kids, staff and supporters were ecstatic and shouted aloud in glee. Kids from Deeplaya, Kalkaji were the strongest supporters, waving their jackets in the air adding to the competitive spirit.
Alas, the match was a draw, much to the dismay of the young ones who wanted their city’s team to win. But not to be deterred, one little girl-fan very proudly said “Humari team ne achha khela tha”. Not to be left out, the Northeast Team also had support from Deepalayas John Rameson, who hails from the region.
