SHG representative workshop in SMARTGRAM village Abhaypur

Be it financial matters or social issues, Deepalaya SHG microfinance programme has enabled women to look beyond their households, unit together, and solve socio-economic issues. It was not easy for women come out from the four walls of their households, manage bank accounts, and at the same time, raise their voice against social evil.  Our SHG team, since its inception in 1999, has worked day in and day out to motivate them and has been conducting training sessions on regular basis with the help of external consultants, bank officials, and associations.

On 23rd December 2017, Deepalaya’s micro-finance project, Sohna facilitated an informative SHG representative workshop in SMARTGRAM village Abhaypur. More than 50 SHGs members from 8 different SHGs participated in the program. The workshop was supervised by experts from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), promoting sustainable agriculture and rural prosperity through effective credit support, related services, and institution development. Mr. Vijay Kumar Nagra, DDM, NABARD was the chief guest at the event. Mr. Randheer (financial literacy counselor) and team were also present at the occasion.

During the workshop, training and hands-on information was given on various topics like importance of e-transactions, use of *99# through mobile without internet, importance of NABARD Panch Sutra (regular SHG meeting, regular saving, regular inter loaning, regular repayment, and regular SHG documentations), SHG book-keeping (minutes book, saving ledger, loan ledger, general ledger, etc.), importance of saving link with bank, importance of individual saving a/c, importance of PM Jeewan Jyoti Beema Yojna, PM Surksha beema Yojna, and Atal Pensan Yojna, process of bank credit linkage, etc. The participants of the workshop, mostly women from nearby villages, were extremely satisfied to leverage the opportunity and learn about the significance of new-age approach to banking and financial matters.
