“The more that you read, the more things you will know.”- Dr Theodor Seuss Geisel.
The atmosphere was of tangible excitement and learning for the students of Deepalaya school Sanjay Colony and Ramditti J.R.Narang School on 16th November,2011, when the students spent an exhilarating hour with renowned writer Ms Indu Harikumar.
Ms Indu Harikumar read out her stories from her own books and also conducted an interactive and engrossing session enabling students to create their own stories and and encouraging them to share these with others. Little Sahil narrated his story with great pleasure about two brothers overcoming their difficulties and emerging victorious.
“It was such a great pleasure and entertaining to see these young minds creating such beautiful stories in such a short span”, said Ms Indu.
Songs and musical stories provided a entertaining learnng experience for the children . The illustrations in the books stirred their imagination and the comic pictures made them laugh their hearts out.
“I have never seen an author in my life; today I am so happy to meet Ms Indu. Iam now eagerly waiting for a library in my school wherein I can go and read story books,” said Anjali-a student of grade V, Deepalaya School Sanjay Colony.
The interactive and joyous session was organized by Essar Foundation Bookaroo; which promotes children’s literature in all Indian languages across schools throughout Delhi and NCR, with a special focus on those with limited access to books and reading.
