A health camp was organized at Sector 15, Dwarka for the community in which Deepalaya has been running SHGs and a vocational training center. Ms. Anita Rana, Assistant Manager, Program, who was taking care of our SHG and vocational training center in West Delhi made all the arrangements and mobilised the people. She is in-charge of our computer center at JJ Colony, Kakrola.
Doctors exmining patients at Dwarka computer training centre.The camp was organised in collaboration with Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket. More than 200 people from the JJ Colony, a slum cluster in Kakrola attended the camp. They are so poor that they can not go to the hospital like Max.
Dr. Anoop and Dr. Riddhi, general physicians from Max Hospital provided leadership to the camp. Most of the patients were suffering from seasonal diseases they were provided medicines. Around 50 of them complained about the joint pains they were given calcium and multi-vitamins.
About 25 children were given deworming medicines. The doctors found that Anemia was a major problem especially among women. They were advised to eat more green vegetables. Diabetic tests were also conducted at the camp.
The health camp was the first of its kind for the people of the slum cluster. All this was possible with the efforts of Deepalaya and the staff of Max hospital.
