Underprivileged students won certificates and rewards from HUDCO

Every year HUDCO organizes a drawing competition to celebrate World Habitat Day. Most of the participants are underprivileged children associated with different NGOs. The students compete in two categories based on their age — 8-11 years and 12-14 years.

For the last three years our students from our learning centers in North West Delhi have been participating in the event and every time they have won prizes also. This year,  12 students (6 in each category) participated. The competition was held on 3rd September.  The students were provided with drawing kits as per the category. Senior group painted with water colours while the junior students used crayons for coloring.

The topic for this year ‘Smart city for future’, which was similar to the theme announced by world habitat day The winners were selected by eminent personalities in the world of art and were awarded in function held on 5th October at Vigyan Bhawan.

This year three of our students who participated in the competition have won prizes worth Rs. 25000/-

1 Tannu (14 year)      2nd Prize (Rs. 10000/-)

2 Ajay (14 year)      3rd Prize (Rs. 7500/-)

3 Khushboo (10 year)      3rd Prize (Rs. 7500/-)

These types of events help students in getting exposure to a competitive world. Our DLC staff and specially our Art & Craft teacher Himanshu has always put in extra efforts in identifying and training the talented students at the centers.  The students were thrilled to be awarded by Shri Hardeep S Puri, Hon’ble Union Minister (Housing & Urban Affairs), who inaugurated the award winning paintings by underprivileged children.
