Women are a valuable part of society, the play a very vital role in human progress. For a very long time, women were considered inferior to men. However, the role of a woman in society has significantly changed during recent decades. But what we ‘Deepalaya’ feel that Men and women are incomparable; women are far superior to men and are capable of sharing all the responsibilities of life.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, almost all projects of Deepalaya celebrated this day with full enthusiasm.
Women’s day was celebrated at DLCSC with lots of enthusiasm and zest. The celebration was graced by the presence of Ms Minimol Joyce, her husband Rev. Joyce Mon, Joel and Johan their two sons’ accompanied by Mr Chackochan, one of our founder member and President, Mr A.J. Philip Sir, Secretary and Chief Executive of Deepalaya and Mrs Betty Philip.

The program started with the lighting of the lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana which was presented through a group dance. A skit on female feticide was staged, where students wonderfully expressed the situation and aftermath of this practice. Students performed a group dance on the free spirit of women. The entire program was wonderful but the show stopper was the Fashion show put by students of Fashion Designing and Beauty Culture courses. These girls and ladies took admission just one month back and initially they were very hesitant to perform in front of an audience. But after receiving motivation classes from our teachers they performed and stole everyone’s heart.
At the end of the day, Ms Minimol graced the occasion with a soulful song which added stars in the celebration.
The celebration was started with the interactive session with remedial girls and ladies of VTC centre. They have a long discussion on the historical background of International Women’s Day celebration by highlighting the various dates, quotes and themes as declared by UNO from year to year. They were told that inspire many provisional Laws in the protection of women and girl child rights passed by the Indian Parliament, women continue to be suffer from violation of her basic rights.
