Every year, Deepalaya Sambhav project has been participating in the event organized by BITS Pilani – Junoon. It is a platform for exploring and recognizing the skills that special children have. Junoon 2K17 an NSS initiative of BITSian was an unrivalled platform that included different recreational activities, sports events and cultural events. It is indeed like one of its kind where different NGOs from different parts of the country gathered together to participate enthusiastically.
Day 1 – 9/09/2017: The team started the journey from the Deepalaya campus early in the morning and boarded train. The staff members and volunteers assisted students in settling down to their respective reserved seats. The kids were given refreshment. The team arrived at Loharu Station where the BITSian welcomed them and escorted them to the BITS Pilani Campus. All the girls and boys from our team were taken to their respective accommodations as per the arrangements they had made. Throughout the event we were helped and briefed by BITS volunteers. Around 1:00 P.M. the team had Lunch at the hostel mess and then all took a short nap for an hour.
At around the Inauguration Ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp by the Guest of Honor, Shri. Anand Kumar an Internationally recognized Para Badminton athlete. He has been regular at most para-badminton meets, and has won the Israel Para Championship on three occasions. Everyone who was honored to be a part of Guest panel addressed the audience with a motivational speech. Different eminent personalities like Shri. Anand Kumar who has been an athlete with Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy and Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani who has been an International Speaker with Cerebral Palsy motivated the students. Deepalayans were fortunate to have an interactive session with Mr. Hitesh Ramchandani. After the Inaugural ceremony, they had organized recreational activities like dancing, painting and games for the students. During recreational activities, not just the students but even the teachers and volunteers were full of exuberance and joy. Around 7 in the evening, they had dinner followed by a movie, Mr. Bean in their auditorium. Everyone had a hearty laugh.
DAY 2 – 10/09/2017: The day started with a delicious breakfast after which the team was accompanied by the volunteers to the Ground for the sport events. The students were ready to win and enjoy the event. Our children participated in various sport events like racing, shot put, long and standing jump and bocce under different age categories. The children won 18 Prices in different categories, detailed hereunder
