On a foggy winter morning of the 21st November, 2010, our six Dream Makers ran for the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon with pride and shone as bright sunlight among the clouds. Besides the encouraging audience and supporters, they were completely ecstatic when they got to know that their efforts to run for the cause of educating the underprivileged did not go in vain. Delighted to witness the efforts by the six alumni students of Deepalaya during the marathon, the team from iCONGO has decided to felicitate the students with the “KARAMVEER PURASKAAR (KVP)” on the 27th November, 2010.
The Karamveer Puraskaar by the iCONGO are the Global Awards for Social Justice and Citizen Action and is being given out to these students who have voluntarily come forward to bring about a positive change in the society and set an example for many others to follow.
Ms. Sudha Parthsarathy, Executive Director, Deepalaya shares, “It is indeed a proud moment for all of us and for our Alumni students too. Despite their belonging to a poor socio-economical background, they came forward as responsible citizens in order to help the organization raise funds for many underprivileged children. By this step, they have strengthened the work of the organization.”
She further said, “We are thankful that an organization like iCONGO has come forward to help us in this venture of bringing a positive change in the lives of mnay underprivileged children in our society.”
Lastly, Team Deepalaya thanks all its supporters and well-wishers for helping the Dream Makers raise the desired amount in order to be part of the Marathon and for helping us reach this stature. The amount would be further used to educate and rehabilitate more and more needy & deserving children of the Institutional Care Unit in Gusbethi.
