Leaders in the making

“Leaders are not born but are made by their experience in the life.” To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of the administrative body, a students’ council was formed at Deepalaya School choir group singing songsSchool Kalkaji Extension. “Leaders are not born but are made by their experience in the life.”  To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of the administrative body, a students’ council was formed at Deepalaya School choir group singing songsSchool Kalkaji Extension. The investiture ceremony was held on 25-4-2016 at the school auditorium.

Mr. Sakhi John, board member was the chief guest and Mr. T. M. Abraham, manager DSKE, presided over the function.  The students of classes IX, X, XI & XII alongwith teachers, non-teaching staff and parents graced the occasion.  The programme commenced with a hymn sung by a group of students under the guidance of Mr. Sunny .C. George, the choir master.

Ms. Meera Jacob recited the prayer followed by the welcome address by Mr. Trevor Jacob, the school Principal. Thereafter, a few quotes were read from the four holy books – Bible, Quran, Gita and Guru Granth Sahib.  The newly elected student council marched to the stage in unison and Ms. Reeba Ninan, the Junior School Student council taking oathIncharge introduced the council & the audience.

The student council includes Mr. Rohit Verma (Class XII), Ms. Farah Khan (Class XII), Mr. Dheeraj (Class XII), and Ms. Nida Siddiqui (Class XII) as Head Boy, head girl, Deputy Heady boy and Deputy head girl respectively. Mr. Chandan (Class XI) and Ms. Nikita Bhattacharya (Class XII) have been designated as Sports Secretary and Cultural Secretary. Apart from these, 2 house captains for each house (Amratya Sen, C V Raman, Mother Teresa and Tagore House) and 8 Prefects also form part of the council.

The Principal administered oath to the newly elected leaders.  They vowed to be true to their posts and duties Student council oath taking ceremony Deepalaya School Kalkaji Extn.assigned to them. 

The Chief Guest gave the badges to the leaders and presented the sashes.  Mr. T M Abraham handed over different flags to the leaders.

In his address, the chief guest appreciated the efforts made by the school authorities for providing a platform to the students for their holistic development and giving them an opportunity to participate in such activities.  He said,”DSKE is now at par with the other leading schools in and around the city.”  The ceremony ended with the singing of National Anthem.
