Deepalaya in association with Give India, promoting livelihood initiatives for people whose lives have been affected by COVID-19 pandemic
Deepalaya is a New Delhi based organization with projects being implemented across north India. The organization is working dedicatedly towards improving the lives of the people who are in vulnerable conditions. The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown have affected many families. As we all know that Daily Wage Workers are badly affected because of the pandemic and have lost jobs.
We are pleased to share that Deepalaya has joined its hands with Give India once again and launched our new initiative for generating funds for the livelihood of these families.
While India continues to recover from the current global pandemic, we are making a significant effort through our Covid Livelihood Initiative to revive the lives of deprived communities in India by mobilizing people and well-wishers from around the world to come together for real social impact in a collective act of giving.
We are participating in a virtual marathon with the main to put under one banner people from various backgrounds to support the country in the recovery phase. It is a digitally supported participatory initiative, to encourage purposeful fundraising from within India and across the world.
The initiative is aimed at providing support to vulnerable sections of society who have been distressed and have lost their livelihoods due to the pandemic since we want to compensate monetarily for the loss of their livelihood.
We have identified about 150 families who will be trained in marketable material production skills which at this point are in very high demand. We will help them in establishing micro-enterprises for earning their livelihood. Micro and small enterprises have enormous potential to create these much-needed employment opportunities. The funds thus collected are to be used for setting up micro-enterprises to make these people self-reliant through this they can make a living, and contribute to raising the country’s unemployment rate.
We need to come together as a nation to tackle the challenges of the ongoing pandemic and there is no better way than citizens to find a platform for active participation, collaboration and commitment to supporting those affected.
We, at Deepalaya, are proud to present a holistic initiative that empowers individuals in the midst of this unprecedented circumstance to have a positive impact on the lives of millions in our country. Our community has seen the worst of times, but we should collectively strive to offer some cheer by offering help and support to the people who desperately need it in these tough times.
