Commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, Christmas is celebrated worldwide on 25th December every year, and is traditionally characterized by tinsel-decorated trees, cake-cutting, gift distribution, and a turkey dinner. Families come together to eat, drink, bond, and be merry, whereas children look forward to a visit from Santa Claus and his sack full of presents.
Like previous years, this year also the different project locations of Deepalaya celebrated Christmas with fervor and excitement. Let us have a look at the glimpses from 2017 Christmas.
Deepalaya Learning Center, Gole Kuan
At Deepalaya Learning Center, Gole Kuan, Christmas celebrations were held on 22nd December. Small kids sang jingle bells, dressed up as Santa, and spread smiles. Students decorated their class rooms by preparing charts and pictures conveying Christmas greetings. Some of the senior students delivered speeches, recited poems, and a group of students sang 3 songs (Jingle Bells, Chup hain ye chanda, We wish u a merry Christmas). They also remembered Jesus Christ, his life, his sacrifice, and tried to understand how he became the son of God.
Students of the afternoon tuition session also celebrated the day with equal grace and enthusiasm. Deepalaya arranged special gifts for all the students’ present on the occasion. The day ended with yummy cakes distributed to staff and students. It was a joyful and unforgettable day for all.
Deepalaya School, Gusbethi
On 22nd December 2017, Deepalaya School Gusbethi had a special look as it geared up to celebrate Christmas. Mrs. Jaswant Kaur, Director CRM was the chief guest at the event. Students welcomed all with a delightful musical dance drama depicting the birth of Jesus. Some of them enthralled the audience by enacting the scene of Nativity in Hindi. The message of Christmas was powerfully conveyed, so was the message of love and peace to humanity. The teachers and guests emphasized on the importance of caring and sharing and spreading warmth. The children spread cheer with lovely attire. Mrs. Jaswant in her message reminded the students that we need to absorb good qualities to love and help people, and was happy to see the enthusiasm in the children who brought the spirit of Christmas to life. Towards the end of the program, as usual, Santa Claus arrived with his team to wish everyone a grace filled year ahead and distribute gifts.
