Moment of pride: Deepalaya School, Gusbethi celebrates Sports Week

Deepalaya School, Gusbethi not only aims a lot of exercise and good fun through promoting sports-based activities, but also nurtures the skills of teamwork, co-operation and self confidence in process. Sports Week is the annual flagship event of Deepalaya School, Gusbethi to encourage participation of students in sporting activities. This time, the Sports Week was inaugurated on 13th December 2017, followed by a week of fervor and excitement.

Deepalaya School, Gusbethi not only aims a lot of exercise and good fun through promoting sports-based activities, but also nurtures the skills of teamwork, co-operation and self confidence in process. Sports Week is the annual flagship event of Deepalaya School, Gusbethi to encourage participation of students in sporting activities. This time, the Sports Week was inaugurated on 13th December 2017, followed by a week of fervor and excitement. The annual Sports Day took place in the middle of the week, with a range of traditional events. The chief guest for Sports Day this year was Mr. Kurian, Manager Admin at Deepalaya and the guest of honor was Mr. John Varghese from Accounts Department. The chief guest and dignitaries were welcomed with bouquets.  This was followed by the inter-house march past, where four houses eyed for glory. Another highlight of the day was the lighting of the lamp by Mr. Kurian and the captains of the four houses. Mr. Zakir Husain, sports in charge of DSG led the students to take an oath to participate in the event with a noble sportsman spirit.

The Chief Guest in his address lauded the school’s initiative and stated that he could gauge the efforts taken by teachers and students in making such a flawless presentation. The march past, he opined was well synchronized and the program was of great quality. He congratulated the team for the event, and further added that students must orient themselves with the happenings of the world and the parents must take care to inculcate moral values and encourage co-curricular activities in children. Next, the audience witnessed various displays symbolizing the alternative sources of energy on Mother Earth. This made way for the much-awaited athletic events where competitiveness among the students soared. Mr. John Varghese officially kick started the event by cutting the ribbon and whistling off the first race.

Overall, it was a week filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish. The principal of the esteemed institution thanked all teachers and the students for their cooperation and support and advised children to keep up their sportsman spirit.
