Deepalaya has collaborated with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for formation of Self Help Groups in rural Haryana. The project was sanctioned during July 2015, and is aimed at formation of 200 SHGs from nearby areas over a period of 3 years. The project also aims at providing training to rural women so that they are able to understand the benefit of SHG formation, maintain records like minutes book, cash book, saving ledgers, loan ledgers etc. conduct meetings, decide unanimously and realize their potential.
In view of the above, on 13th June 2018, a SHG training workshop was conducted in village Khod in Pataudi block in the presence of Mr. Vijay Kumar Nagra, DDM, NABARD, who was the chief guest. Around 50 SHG members from 6 SHGs attended the workshop. Ms. Rinki Yadav, Manager, Sarva Haryana Grameen Bank Khod; Mr. Rajesh Prashad from Rudset Institute, Gurgaon; Mr. Puny Pal, Financial Literacy Counselor; and Ms. Smitha Meenakshy, Manager Microfinance, Deepalaya were also present.
During the workshop, different topics like benefits of SHGs, effective SHG documentation and record keeping, inspiration for savings for SHGs, NABARD Panch Sutra (Regular SHG meeting, regular saving, regular inter-loaning, regular repayment & regular SHG documentations), importance of individual saving a/c, importance of PM Jeewan Jyoti Beema Yojna, PM Surksha Beema Yojna, and Atal Pensan Yojna, process and methodologies of bank credit linkage, etc. were discussed. The participants were very receptive to new ideas which would lead to their socio-economic empowerment. After the workshop, a PIMC meeting was also conducted Deepalaya’s Pataudi office, wherein we discussed the progress made by the NABARD projects so far, future plans for project extension, etc.
