One day that every Indian awaits eagerly is the Independence day – the day when India got freedom from the British. For one thing, it is a National holiday. The day is celebrated at Deepalaya every year with lot of passionDeepalaya School Gusbethi celebrating Independence Day and fervor at every project location catering to children.

All schools and learning centres, celebrated the day, including the newly set-up Deepalaya Loesche India Learning Centre at Noida. Here are a few snapshots:

Deepalaya Loesche India Learning Centre: It was amazing to see little girls dancing to the tunes of nanha munna raahi hu desh ka sipahi hu giving tough competition to girls, who were slightly older to them.

The teachers had worked extremely hard to teachChildren peforming a dance number on Independence Daydance to these girls who were only 2 months old in Deepalaya. Dressed in different colours, they had poems to recite, songs to sing and even speeches to explain the relevance of Tri-colour and why Independence Day is celebrated in the country.

Education on Wheels: As the project covers four locations in a day – every location had a flavor of its own. Children made kites, friendship bands, and flags to show their creativity. They painted the national flag on their face to show their love for the Tricolour. They danced and sang patriotic songs to mark the occasion.

Deepalaya School Gusbethi: The school celebrated the day with a different theme – Beti Ka Salaam Desh ke Naam. Tasleema one of the most educated girl in the region was the Chief Guest. In all there were 13 programs – religious, cultural and patriotic. Children were given ladoos and biscuits towards the end of the programme. The teachers and the students together prepared a beautiful chart depicting the glory of Independence Day.

Deepalaya Learning Center Titron: Students of Deepalaya Learning Center Titron prepared 60 invitation cards for inviting guests in the locality for celebrating Independence Day. The school was decorated beautifully.

104 students participated in the program. The national flag was hoisted by Mr.  Baba Kulveer Choudhary (BJP Leader). Smt. Shimla Devi the town Ramditti JR Narang Learning Centre - students singing patriotic songs on Independence DayChairman was also present on the occasion. The guests apprised the children about struggle for Independence, values which we should cultivate and how we can change our country and help in its development.  Finally they were given blessings and best wishes for a bright future.

The cultural program comprised of dances, play, jokes, nazam and songs. The students and the guest thoroughly enjoyed the day. The guests donated an amount of Rs. 3250/- for the school.

Ramditti J R Narang Deepalaya Learning Centre: Students put up dances on song Desh Rangila and oStudents of Deepalaya learning centre made a poster on freedom fighters of Indiather songs related to Independence and freedom struggle. The tiny tots too danced to the tune of Rang De Basanti. Ms. Mridula Koshy and two volunteers were the guests. They cheered the students and wished them luck. The school premises reverberated with the song we shall overcome. The flag was hoisted on the 15th of August. The teachers narrated in brief the struggle of our independence and the significance of the day.

Students who were slightly older delivered speeches about some of the freedom fighters, sacrifices they made for attaining freedom & how should we contribute to make the country a better India. Students in the afternoon session also took part in the event. Teachers distributed toffees to the students. Students enrolled in the Vocational training center also celebrated the day.
