Of course your children had to be here. Such a fantastic program they have put up and you people do an amazing job at Deepalaya. I want to thank you for coming,â€Â was what the Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms. Sheila Dikshit had to say after she witnessed the four performances of the students of Deepalaya at the Youth Festival held at Central park, Connaught Place on 5th October, 2010. This festival was part of the Common Wealth Games celebrations. The audience was mesmerized by the group of 160 students of the Choral group of Deepalaya. Not just that, the cherry on the cake came when the Chief Minister joined the kids on the stage and sang Teri Hai Zameen song. She prompted the Compere to inform the audience that the kids were to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Games but could not do so due to the health constraints of some students. Besides this song, the students sung an English song i.e. – We are the Children, we are the world.â€Â The Rajasthani dance and Vande Matram by the students dressed in a traditional Indian dress had the audience cheering with glee. They were enthralled by the students when they did the somersaults and the various formations. The children in turn imbibed the feeling of nationalism in the crowd with their performance. This was organized by the Department of Art, Culture and Languages, Government of Delhi; Delhi Tourism; Coca Cola; Delhi Celebrates; & NDMC. The children were super excited after their performance in front of a large Delhi audience and media who were all praise for the energetic students. “We wish we get an opportunity to be a part of such events in the future too. It was very motivating for us when the audience hooted for us while we were performing,â€Â shared the ecstatic students of Deepalaya. The students were from the four Formal Schools of Deepalaya in Delhi. It was INDEED a proud moment for the entire organization to be part of the biggest sporting extravaganza. At the end of the day it was a thrilling performance!
Team Deepalaya would like to heartily thank all the donors, sponsors and staff who came and encouraged the students with their presence. Don’t forget to send in your feedback to feedback@deepalaya.org By- Pooja Sikka, Officer- Communications
