Diwali — the festival of lights – was celebrated in almost all the locations with lot of enthusiasm on 28th October. Children, teachers and staff participated in various activities. Here are a few snippets:

Deepalaya Learning Center, Gole Kuan: The day began with informative speeches on the festival throwing light on why it is celebrated all over the country. Students prepared banners/Posters and wrote slogans to convey the message for celebrating “Clean-Green & Eco Friendly Diwali”. The students conducted a rally for making people aware to have pollution- free Diwali by avoiding crackers. It was a small attempt to reiterate a message that the students have been giving for the last so many years to save our environment by celebrating Diwali with diyas & candles only. With the banners/ slogans students walked in & around the surroundings with their teachers, to convince the people. Beside all these small kids made drawing on Diwali, students from both morning/afternoon shift decorated colorful diyas, and made beautiful rangolis. They enjoyed the day. Office rooms/Class rooms were also decorated. Teachers distributed toffees amongst students to encourage their spirit.

Diwali celebration at different locations of Deepalaya

Deepalaya Learning Center, Sanjay Colony: The day started with some studies initially. Later on the students and teachers decorated their classes and did Diwali pooja. Drawing competition was organised in all the classes LKG, UKG, I, II and also remedial education classes. Rangoli competition was conducted for the teachers and senior boys and girls of remedial classes. The day ended on a happy note. Prizes were given to the 1st and 2nd positions in the drawing competiton during assembly the following week. Parents were present to see their wards getting prizes. The teachers and the students, who participated in the rangoli competition also got prizes.

Ramditti J R Narang Deepalaya Learning Center: One of the teachers, Ms. Yogamaya delivered a short speech on Diwali for informing teachers about the importance of Diwali. The teachers did Diwali Pooja in every class separately. The students decorated earthen lamps. A drawing competition was also conducted before the kids took their lunch. Ms. Usha made tea and bread pakoras for the staff. After school, the teachers were divided into two groups with Ms. Renu and Ms. Yogamaya as group captains. The teachers braced themselves for the rangoli competition, which they had to complete by 2 p.m. Ms. Shamli and Mr. Sujeet were the judges. It was fun for the teachers as they had not participated in any competition for long. The group headed by Ms. Yogamaya won the competition.

Diwali is been clebrated at Deepalaya Learning Centre, Titron, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Deepalaya Learning Center, Titron: Students decorated their classes with candles, balloons etc. They also participated in Rangoli competition. The staff was given sweets towards the end of the day.

Deepalaya Human Resource Center: The HR department planned a small programme to celebrate Diwali. The staff decorated the office with rangoli and diyas. They played games like musical chair etc. Ms. Saraswathi and Mr. Kuriakose won the fun game.

Deepalaya Childrens’ Home: Keeping the festive spirit alive, Deepalaya Children’s Home celebrated Diwali on 30th October. “Diwali“, the festival of lights, illuminates the darkness of the New Year’s moon, and strengthens our close friendships and knowledge, with a self-realization! Various cultural programmes and competitions were organized on this occasion. Children burnt crackers, fuljhari, chakari etc. which do not cause much pollution and noisein the presence of the staff. Rangoli competition, Diya decoration and other such events were also organized for engaging the children. The children did not forget to take blessings from their staff. In the end sweets and special food provided to the all children.
