Deepalaya School, Gole Kuan celebrated the Annaul Sports Day in the first week of December.  As the School does not have a ground of its own, the children gathered at the neighbouring MCD park for the grand event.

The School situated amongst a cluster of slums started around twenty one years back with a dream of restoring the pleasure of childhood through education. Though the rooms of the school are small , though there is  hardly any space for movement be it for  sports or PT, yet the smiles of the children and the confidence with which they speak and carry themselves speak volumes of the work. The yearly sports day is a much awaited event.

The event started with the relay and balloon races for the little ones of LKG and UKG followed by the 100m and 200 m races for the seniors. The frog race and the sack race enthralled all.

The students cheered for their houses motivating them to put in their best. The factory workers and the people of the community were the spectators and they too participated wholeheartedly in the event.

The day ended with the prize distribution to the winners and refreshments. The tiny-tots could not hold their smiles .The spirit of ‘Sportsman Spirit’ prevailed

Ms. Poonam Thakur, Head mistress felicitating the winner

After all, the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well.
