The early January chill in the wind kept most Delhites indoors and Delhi Schools extended their winter break by yet another week but the campus of Deepalaya School of Sanjay Colony saw a large gathering of students and teachers as they came together to celebrate the Annual Day of the school on 7th of January, 2011.
Parents and other visitors also flooded the premises in large numbers to see the show. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Rev. Dr. Moni Mathew who was accompanied by his wife, Susan. Also present were the representatives from the Amway Opportunity Foundation and Rtn. T. V. S. Sethi. The Chief Guest inaugurated the Craft Exhibition and the wall magazine ’Rainbow’, the topic this year was ‘Games’ with a special focus on The Commonwealth Games.
Annual Day CelebrationAn auspicious start to the program was marked by the Lighting of the Lamp by the Chief Guest, Rtn. T.K. Mathew and other guests and students. This which followed by the harmonious prayer song that enchanted everyone. The performances such as the Maharashtrian dance and the play’ The Milkman’s Cow’ left the audience awe-struck, watching the tiny tots performing was a complete visual delight. It was heartening to see the alumni also performing on the occasion.
Annual Day CelebrationThe major attraction of the day proved to be the Ceremony for giving away the Awards for academic excellence and extracuriicular activities. These included the Indira and Jai Foundation Award for Cleanliness (4), Manasa Awards (5) (instituted by renowned Odissi dancer Ms. Sharon Lowen), Mrs. Grace and Punnose Thomas Memorial Award (1)instituted by the first Principal of Deepalaya School and the Shri.Kishori Lal Sehgal and Smt. Leela Sehgal Memorial Awards in the memory of Dr. Virender Sehgal’s parents.
Annual Day CelebrationMr. Pappu and his wife Saraswati Dev, whose 4 children study at the School were declared the Best Parents of the year for their close involvement in the academic life of their children as well as their overall participation in school improvement activities. An emotional Pappu said. ‘I am all grateful to Deepalaya for the difference happening for my children”.
On this memorable occasion Father Moni Mathew conveyed his valuable thoughts through speeches and many engaging questions .
Annual Day CelebrationIt was as a wonderful lesson of moral teaching for the students .He appreciated the wonderful presentations by the students, And spoke highly of the talent and the overall performance of the school.
The occasion comprised of everything from enthralling performances to encouraging awards. Thus, the program came to an end with the united voices singing the National Anthem. The conviction in the voices clearly alluded that the sky is the only limit for the students of Deepalaya.
