Vodafone and Zoozoos teach road safety at Deepalaya

In an encouraging step, Vodafone Mobile Services Ltd organised a day long event on ‘Awareness on Road Safety Programme’ for the students of Deepalaya School Gole Kuan on 31st January, 2014. The idea behind the initiative was to inform the children how to be safe on the roads by abiding traffic rules.
“Catch them young”, goes the saying which fits best when expressing the need to address the importance of Children at Deepalaya School, Gole Kuan learn the importance of road awareness, thanks to Vodafone and Zoozoosroad safety amongst kids. Every day countless children die or are seriously injured on our roads. In an encouraging step, Vodafone Mobile Services Ltd organised a day long event on ‘Awareness on Road Safety Programme’ for the students of Deepalaya School Gole Kuan on 31st January, 2014. The idea behind the initiative was to inform the children how to be safe on the roads by abiding traffic rules.
Students from classes I to V actively participated in the programme, the enthusiasm infected even the Volunteers from Vodafone lecturing the students of Deepalaya School, Gole Kuan on the importance of road safetyteachers, who readily helped the 15 Vodafone volunteers impart road safety wisdom to the children. An instant connect was struck with children as the volunteers explained the meaning of traffic rules with the help of Vodafone’s Zoozoo (their very popular animated characters) illustrations. It was followed by a question answer session to which the students responded fittingly. “We came to teach kids about road safety and were quite surprised with the knowledge levels of the kids. The teachers and management are doing a wonderful job!” said Manav Gupta, one of the volunteer. All theDelhi roads are dangerous. Volunteers from Vodafone distribute a road safety manual to young Deepalayans volunteers were delighted to promote such an able cause amongst children who come from financially and socially weaker section of the society.
In an innovative method to get the message across, a book on road safety rules was distributed to all the students, along with Vodafone zip pouches, badges and crayons.
Road safety for children is a major social concern. Therefore we need to ensure that we teach our children this important lesson early in life.
