Two workshops for training of SHG members were conducted on 17th June & 18, June, 2016 at Pahal Kathayari, Uttrakhand. Mr. Kailash and Mr. Dilip Kumar Gupta, social workers posted at Uttrakhand conducted the workshop for members of 7 newly formed Self Help groups (SHGs). Around 46 women participated in the workshops. They were apprised about the concept of Self Help Groups and how it helps in transforming SHG member training by Deepalaya staff in Uttarakhandwomen into entrepreneurs by channelizing the collective resources of the group.
Mr. Kailash informed that in order to make a SHG eligible for loan and financial support, certain minimum requirements have to be complied with as per NABARD guidelines. He informed how and when a meeting should be conducted, what kind of records a SHG has to maintain. He also guided them how to maintain books, cash ledger etc.
Mr. Dilip Gupta then informed the women about SHG Grading, why it is important and on what grounds it is done. He also apprised that banks lend only on the basis of grading. Thereafter, Mr. Kailash informed how loans availed can be put to use for income-generating activities. The money saved from these activities can be pooled for expansion and shall lead to increase in savings on a yearly basis.
