World Environment day was observed at many locations. Children participated in many activities and trees were also planted at many places. A brief overview is given below:
Deepalaya Learning Center Sanjay Colony: Children of Sanjay Colony learning centre and the FADA students celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2017. The day began at 8am when the students during special assembly spoke about the importance of saving the earth and the kind of problems our earth is facing due to man’s indiscriminate felling of trees, polluting the air, water, soil thereby disturbing the ecological balance. The students spoke about planting more trees, saving water and using cycles as far as possible and even walking. They opined that minimizing the use of vehicles will also help in curbing air pollution. Two children recited poems and a teacher sang a song based on Rabindra Sangeet on the beauty of nature with the flowers gently swaying in the breeze. Plants from the department of Environment were brought free of cost and these were planted in the patch of garden of Sanjay Colony and also in pots. The children were happy and active, cleaning the garden removing the plastic bags, digging soil, watering plants and removing the plant cuttings etc. The students were told to adopt each of the trees they planted and it was their duty to water and take care of the plants. Trees of Jamun, Ashoka, flowering plants etc. were planted.
Ramditti J R Narang Learning Center: World Environment Day was observed throughout the week from 5th to 9th June 2017. A talk about Chipko Movement was delivered by Ms Jyoti on 5thJune and students of class IXth (remedial classes) sang a song. This week’s topic of discussion in the morning assembly was related to our environment and its importance.
A special assembly was organized for the remedial children on 8th June, around 10 AM. The student recited poem Badal and a class III student performed a special skit for motivating everyone in Boycotting Plastic. Talks on the importance of our environment and other related issues were delivered both in Hindi and in English by the students of IVth to VIIIth (Reena, Heena, Isha & Julie).
Students of class I to III, Saddam, Preeti, Rashid, Mehtab and Vaishnavi recited Jab Tak Jeev Hai Jagat Mein. The girls of class IXth (Diya, Sakshi, Sandhya, Poonam and Priyanka) performed a skit on save trees. A 250g pack of Matar Dal, donated by Mrs. Vasudha Bajoria, was given to each student studying in remedial classes. The programme was concluded with a song Vriksh Hamara Jiwan Hai, sung by Ramditti team, followed by our National Anthem.
Deepalaya Childrens’ home: Keeping the Greenery alive, Deepalaya Children’s Home celebrated World Environment Day on 5th of June 2017 Mr. Zaheer Ahmed (PO, IC Mewat) and Mrs. Mohammadi (Chairperson, CWC Mewat) graced the ocassion. Cultural programme such as Skit, drawing Competition and a drive for cleaning the surroundings was organized on this occasion. Children planted plants. Shankar and Puran Bahadur gave motivational speech to children. They also spoke how we can keep clean our surrounding and the importance of plants. A few boys presented a skit on “Save Trees and Keep Environment Healthy.”
