While Yoga was acknowledged on the international forum only this year with the UN observing June 21 as Boys at Children's Home doing yogainternational Yoga day, thanks to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has been said yoga has been in existence for more than 5000 years. The techniques and various asanas promote peace, tranquillity and helps in exploring “the self”, which gets subsided in our day-to-day life.
Varuna Khullar, a young yoga teacher, has been associated with Deepalaya for the last 7 years and has been sponsoring two children enrolled at Childrens’ home. Over these years, she has been visiting Gusbethi, interacting with children and conducting some activities and encouraging them for doing their best in their studies. “It gives me immense pleasure to meet children in Deepalaya Home. Deepalaya has a special place in my heart. It is working for a good cause,” says Varuna.
Varuna has been teaching yoga in the Middle East and came to India a few years ago. “What began as an escapade from my stressed nine-to-five corporate life, eventually became a prime interest and then, an inspiration and finally, a passion in my life,” she says. She is a 200 hour hatha yoga teacher affiliated with Yoga Alliance and certified Laughter Yoga teacher from Laughter University, Bangalore. Recently she launched her yoga training centre under the banner of “yoga with v”. As she has a special place in herGirls at Children's Home doing Yoga heart for Children’s home, she contacted us for conducting yoga sessions for children on a regular basis every Saturday after school.
The first yoga session was organised on 1stAugust, 2015. Everyone including the DCH staff participated in the activity. The 2-hour session gave a new lease of life to children, who enjoyed doing yoga with Varuna.
Life gets boring and unproductive when you keep on doing the routine and the ordinary. Yes, the routine has to be done but life is not complete without a “little more” everyday. In other words, that “little more” can be called “the difference”. Varuna filled this void aimed at achieving the best of 3 M’s of life – “Motivation” to take the challenges head on, “Mind” to actively participate for a “Meaningful” life.
