Deepalaya Non-Formal Education Programme

Deepalaya has made ripples in the education sector with its programmes for underprivileged children. Following the Right to Education Act in 2005, not all our learning centres were converted into schools. Several exist as informal learning centres, where children are taught foundational concepts, activity-based learning, functional skill sets like computer literacy, and value education. Students are also provided remedial education to help them catch up to their respective formal classes, following which they are mainstreamed into their age appropriate school classes.

Deepalaya Learning Centre- Gole Kuan

Gole Kuan is a slum that houses hundreds of daily wage-workers struggling to reach end every day. In a situation where the primary concern is to raise enough money to afford a day's meal, safety, hygiene and education will take up a secondary role. 
Deepalaya opened one of its first formal schools right in the heart of the Gole Kuan slum in 1999 to provide quality education and hygiene awareness to the community’s children. Special focus was provided to girl child education. The school has been converted to a learning centre pursuant to applicability of Right to Education Act.
